Seva Foods unveils ‘world’s first’ vegan freeze-dried ice cream
2018-05-29 From: FoodBev US snack brand Seva Foods has launched what it describes as the world’s first plant-based, freeze-dried ice cream. Called Space Ice Kream, the line is said to have the rich flavour of traditional ice cream, but with the convenience of a snack. Inspired by the nostalgic treat originally created for the Apollo space missions in the 1960s, Space Ice Kream comes in cashew- and coconut-based bite-sized nuggets, minimally processed and freeze dried “to maintain optimal nourishment”. Available in vanilla and strawberry flavours in the US, the products are made in small batches in Carlsbad, California. Seva Foods said it is responding to consumer demand for healthier versions of snacks they enjoy.
“Our commitment to sustainable ingredients and practices means crafting products that are good for our bodies and the planet. By crafting products made only with plant-based ingredients, we hope to improve the world for all animals.” It added: “With a perfect combination of taste, health and convenience, our products provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Always soy-free, gluten-free, with no refined sugar or added oils, and at an average of just 100 calories per serving, our snacks and treats provide the energy you need without slowing you down.”
