Trisco Foods goes international
2019-03-13 From: FoodProcessing Brisbane-based food manufacturing business Trisco Foods has purchased its first offshore facility in Colorado Springs, which will initially focus on serving those with swallowing difficulties in the United States. The 3700 m2 facility will allow the company to pursue greater market share for its Precise Thick-N range of instant liquid thickeners for those suffering from swallowing problems and neurological-related dysphagia. The thickeners make soft food and liquids easier to swallow without impacting the nutritional benefits or taste, and have achieved strong market penetration after just two years. The company is currently shipping six containers to the US each month from its Carole Park manufacturing plant. Trisco Foods CEO Mike Tristram explained why Colorado Springs is the “ideal location” for the company’s first international operation. “With good access to the entire United States, as well as a growing specialty food manufacturing culture, we see great opportunities for the future. “Colorado Springs is an exciting and fast-growing region and mirrors the balanced but hard-working lifestyle of Brisbane. “The region is very business-friendly, due in part to the intelligent and highly skilled workforce, centralised interstate access, excellent incentive packages and low-cost utilities,” he said. While the plant will initially produce products from the Precise Thick-N range with up to 75 people to be employed over the next 12 months, the company plans to develop and manufacture new products over the next five years. According to Trisco, the plant will serve the current domestic market and have the capability to supply potential new export markets in Europe and South America in the near future. Trisco’s global headquarters will remain in Brisbane, but the company plans to invest heavily in expanding its R&D capabilities in the US.
