RPC creates PET bottles for creamed vegetables
2012-08-08

RPC Containers Corby is providing plastic bottles to a well-known Italian manufacturer of creamed vegetables

The company has selected the 670ml ‘top down’ Orion bottle from RPC Corby with a 38mm valveless cap from RPC Halstead.

The multi-layer polypropylene bottle incorporates an inner layer of EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer) to prevent oxygen ingress and provide a minimum of 12 months shelf life for the products, which are also pasteurised during the filling process.

According to RPC, the bottle is lightweight for easy handling by the consumer and its squeezy properties ensure simple dispensing and accurate portion control. A colourful full body sleeve featuring the main ingredient for each variety creates strong brand image and on-shelf appeal.

The Serbosco ‘Creamed Vegetable’ range includes radish, artichoke, pepper, porcini mushroom, asparagus, butternut squash and truffle. The creams are ideal as a starter or accompaniment, or as a topping for bruschettas, pizzas and canapés.

The company has been supplying the products in glass bottles and tin cans but wanted a more modern and convenient format to refresh the brand and further enhance its quality image.

‘Convenience and high resistance’

“The convenience and high resistance to shattering of the Orion bottle are appreciated by our consumers and these features are equally valuable during the filling and distribution process,” comments Gian Domenico Cappellaro of Serbosco.

“We have been delighted with the service from RPC and the ability to source both the bottle and closure from the same company is an added advantage.”
