Strawberry packer raises game with Proseal investment
2013-03-25 Packaging News Scottish fruit grower D Geddes (Farms) has invested in kit from Proseal to pack its strawberries
The company opted for the Proseal GT2, an automatic, large capacity, high speed in-line tray sealing system designed to cut labour costs and produce 90 plus packs per minute. Since installing the machine, D Geddes (Farms) said that it can pack 20% more units in 20% fewer man hours than on its lidding line. D Geddes (Farms) fruit manager, Andrew Cranston, said: “This machine can easily cope with our peak of production and we were impressed with the reputation for quality and service that was being portrayed in the industry.” D Geddes (Farms), based near Arbroath in Scotland, produces around 1,000 tonnes of strawberries annually.
