That's the idea Miguel Valenzuela had when he created the PancakeBot—the world's first pancake printer.

No need for an art history background or degree in culinary science. Just draw any image on your computer; the PancakeBot-compatible software will create a file, and the printer does the rest.

Whether tracing your favorite piece of art, a child's drawing, a product image, or a company or team logo, you control which lines are "drawn" onto the griddle first, helping to determine the pancake's shading.

Hoping to appeal to humankind's taste buds, Valenzuela launched a Kickstarter campaign, crowdfunding nearly $130,000 in its first week—blowing past the original $50,000 goal.

Though it will retail for $299, Kickstarter supporters can pick up the PancakeBot for $179 (super early-bird options of $149 and $169 are sold out).

For $299, Kickstarter backers can get two pancake printers. And if that's just not enough to feed your growing family (or fit your hotel or cafe), shell out $849 for six—a 50 percent savings.

Folks who just want to show their support for a future filled with customized flapjacks can pledge $29 for a "Pancake Lovers" apron, or $59 to get your face made in the shape of a pancake. (The image will be posted online and sent to your email upon request.)
