Start-up develops post-workout beer with highest protein content

Supplemental Brewing has so far raised just over $8,000 of its $40,000 funding goal. It wants to use the money to help bring its products to market and provide consumers with a brew “that not only tastes great but also meets your fitness goals”. It will also put the funding towards fine-tuning the beers’ recipes; partnering with an existing brewery on the production, bottling and canning of its beers; and distributing the final products across the US market. The company’s products include Brewtein, a 5% ABV American wheat ale with a greater protein content than any other product on the market; and NutriBeer, a 4% ABV lighter, lager-style beer, which delivers 4g of protein for only 122 calories. And both variants perform well when their nutritional profiles are compared to similar brews: At 7g, Brewtein delivers three and a half times more protein than Sam Adams Octoberfest with less carbohydrates and fewer calories; while NutriBeer has four times as much protein as Bud Light, as well comparable amounts of carbohydrates and calories.
