An EU expert will travel to Moldova to provide advice on harmonising national legislation with EU regulations on organic farming in the context of the country’s Association Agreement with the EU. The five day mission, which starts on 14 March 2016, is organised by the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX) following a request from the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
 
The expert will present relevant EU regulations applicable to organic production, labelling and imports of organic products as well assess and advise Moldovan counterparts on harmonizing the country’s national legislation on organic farming according to the EU regulations. As stated in the mission’s programme, the expert will meet with the representatives from the various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Certification body for organic production, for bilateral discussions and thematic working groups where the above mentioned topics will be presented.
 
TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. It is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with the approximation of national laws, regulations and quality standards to those of EU Member States in the framework of Cooperation or Association agreements signed with the EU. TAIEX Assistance is given through expert missions, workshops or seminars and study visits. In the Eastern Neighbourhood, TAIEX works with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
