Blue Harbor Fish Co has debuted a new brand of sustainably caught wild Albacore tuna, which is available in the US in cans and pouches.

The 100% line-caught tuna is available both with no added salt and with a touch of sea salt; both variants are free from preservatives, meaning that consumers are able to enjoy the fresh flavour of the tuna. The Albacore tuna, which is not considered endangered, is sourced from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified fisheries in the South Pacific.

As the he Blue Harbor Fish Co brand is dedicated to the sustainability of the world’s fish stocks, the tuna is caught using long-line fishing methods and innovative tracking systems to help ensure the traceability of the catch all the way back to the boat. The tuna is then hand-selected and each pouch or can is packed with only water, or water and sea salt, offering a delicious, mild and clean flavour, the company said.

“The MSC is proud to partner with Blue Harbor Fish Co to help achieve our vision of oceans teeming with life for future generations,” said Brian Perkins, MSC regional director for the Americas. “The blue MSC label on this product means that it can be traced right back to a certified, sustainable wild source and that it was caught responsibly with minimal impact on the environment.”

The Blue Harbor Fish Co products will retail for approximately $2.69 per pouch and $3.49 per can, available online and through the grocery channel.
