Xylem develops new series of compact bag-in-box dispensers

Water technology provider Xylem has expanded its hot and cold beverage dispensing range with a new compact bag-in-box dispenser.

The new Flojet BevJet 5000 series is an electric bag-in-box pump designed for dispensing wine, juice, teas, and liquor with alcohol content below 15%. The small-scale solution enables mounting in tight spaces such as cabinets, carts, or under counter situations. Its low noise level, Xylem said, makes it unnoticeable to customers in foodservice environments – and the quick, simple and safe installation results in cost, time and energy savings for both installers and owners. 

Xylem market segment director residential and speciality, Peter Wright, said: “Restaurant and bar operators are always looking for new solutions for preserving the quality and flavour of their product. Bag-in-box beverages stay fresh weeks after opening, while reducing costs related to packaging, shipping and storing. Our BevJet 5000 series offers a superior taste experience, and saves valuable counter space at the same time.”

The Flojet BevJet 5000 can be retrofitted into existing operations, ensuring easy conversion to a bag-in-box beverage system. A built-in shutoff automatically turns the pump off when a beverage bag is empty, and restarts when a full bag is connected.

Additional benefits of the BevJet5000 include a quick disconnect port to replace the hose in seconds for reduced downtime, the ability to run dry without damage and self-priming capabilities.

It will join Flojet’s full range of customisable beverage technologies for applications like beer and soft drink chilling, carbonation, remote bottled water systems and the dispensing of coffee and tea, including solutions for water supply, filtration and water boosting.

Its launch comes in the same week that Anheuser-Busch and Keurig Green Mountain announced that they will develop an in-home drinks machine for making alcoholic drinks, as part of a new joint venture.

The collaboration, which will bring together the expertise of both companies, will build on the Keurig Kold technology and AB’s brewing and packaging expertise.

It is believed that any final product would use one-cup dispensers like those used in Keurig’s coffee machines, or soft drinks carbonators like SodaStream, to craft brew-at-home alcoholic drinks.
