Big Bazaar launches a range of Chinese soups

Big Bazaar, one of the biggest retail players in India, has launched a range of classic and Chinese soups under its private label "Tasty Treat."

The Classic soups and Chinese range will be available at an introductory price of Rs 30 with an offer of Buy 2 & Get 1 Free. "We will be manufacturing our new soups range at Coimbatore. Keeping in mind the insight of how Indian consumers have soups at home, Tasty Treat will offer healthy and convenience food with taste," Devendra Chawla, head - private brands, Pantaloon Retail India Ltd, told F&B News.

The Chinese range will also see the launch of the Hakka Noodles available for an inaugural offer of Buy one for Rs 17 and two for Rs 29.

According to Datamonitor, sales of packaged soup have witnessed a dramatic increase in the last 5 years. The market researcher also estimates that packaged soups market in India to be over Rs 90 crore in 2008 and growing at CAGR of nearly 17%.

Big Bazaar's new product will be available in four classic variants - Sweet Corn, Thick Tomato, Mixed Veg and Hot & Sour and five Chinese variants namely, Hot Garlic, Hot & Sweet Tomato, Hot Chinese Veg, Lemon Coriander and Veg Manchow.

The range of soups is available at all Big Bazaar and Food Bazaar stores across the country.
