PepsiCo inaugurates new $42.5m baby food plant in Russia

PepsiCo has opened a baby food production plant in Krasnodar, Russia, after investing RUS 2.6 billion ($42.5 million).

The new plant will produce cottage cheese products for the company’s Agusha and Chudo Detki brands, according to PepsiCo.

Production capacity on the manufacturing line will be approximately 25 tonnes of product per day.

PepsiCo began construction of the plant in 2016, and said at the time: “The construction of a new plant in the Krasnodar region will allow us to increase the production of baby food and expand our range of products.”

The company is one of the four largest produces of children’s dairy products in the country, and added a new baby food production line at its plant in Omsk, Russia last month.

Neil Sturrock, president of PepsiCo Russia, Ukraine and CIS, said: “The new plant will be manufacturing products for consumers living in the southern regions of Russia and will enable the company to further strengthen its position in the Russian dairy market.

Konstantin Sinetsky, general director of the Kubanmoloko Association of dairy industry enterprises, added: “Not every region can provide a fully-fledged raw material base for children’s dairy products. In the Krasnodar Territory there is no such problem.

“We grow in the production of high-quality milk. I think this played an important role in choosing the site for the construction of the plant.”
