In the UK, Nestlé had previously unveiled haulage trucks with commemorative designs.

Nestlé will this week stage the pinnacle of a year’s worth of celebrations to mark the company’s 150th anniversary, ahead of the birthday of founder Henri Nestlé.

The company has been holding events to commemorate the milestone throughout the year, and has already inaugurated a new discovery centre in Vevey, Switzerland, which will allow visitors to get acquainted with Nestlé’s past, explore the world’s food challenges and experience Nestlé’s vision for human nutrition.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Nestlé US will embark on its largest single day of organised community service on 4 August. Honouring the 120 hometowns in 47 states in which Nestlé businesses operate in the US, the company will bring its longstanding commitment to “good food, good life” to more than 150 different community events across the US.

Nestlé 150 for 150 unites more than 6,000 employees with dozens of non-profit organisations for a day dedicated to service.

And in Brazil, the company has begun an outdoor exposition in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the cultures of Switzerland and Brazil, where it has operated since 1921, just days ahead of the opening of one of the largest sporting events in the world. Nestlé estimates that approximately 450,000 will visit the event, which will run until September, including during the 2016 Olympics.

In the UK, Nestlé had previously unveiled haulage trucks with commemorative designs.

Speaking earlier in the year, Nestlé said: “As Nestlé’ celebrates 150 years, the company holds true to its conviction that to prosper in the long-term, it must create value for shareholders, the communities where it operates, and wider society. It’s a conviction that enshrines Henri Nestlé’s values, as Nestlé looks forward to the next 150 years of ‘Good Food, Good Life’.”

And Johann Schneider-Ammann, president of the Swiss Confederation, said: “Switzerland is proud to host a company like Nestlé. Dynamic and ambitious, it has a global vision, but remains firmly rooted in our country.”

In June, Nestlé agreed to promote CEO Paul Bulcke to the role of chairman. He will be replaced by the CEO of Fresenius Group, Ulf Mark Schneider.
