The company has extended the running time between cleaning cycles for its low-acid aseptic filling lines, allowing them to run continuously for up to 120 hours (five days), compared to traditional systems that require a cleaning/sterilization cycle every 72 hours. The reduced downtime adds about 10 additional production days per year, significantly reducing the cost per bottle due to improved productivity. Fewer sanitation cycles also mean less cost for maintenance and chemicals. The systems spray liquid peracetic acid (PAA) into upside-down PET bottles to sterilize them before filling them with low-acid products such as milk and milk-based drinks.
