National Flexibles fights health scares with new film

Film packaging specialists National Flexible has developed a new anti-bacterial product designed to combat food poisoning.

The development uses silver ion technology as a way of inhibiting bacterial and microbial activity on the surface of the film.

According to National Flexibles, “the film is effective in eliminating 99.9% of bacteria on packed product content with the film”.

The company added that the film’s performance has been tested under ISO:22196 and meets approval for direct food contact. It targets packaging formats for products such as fresh and prepared produce.

In addition, the film is “identical in performance and appearance to standard BOPP films and can be used on existing packing without any modification to the machinery”.
